super-convenient, and outdoorsy.  It's easy to see why this is one of the hottest markets in marin.

Welcome to Greenbrae

Exceptionally well located and convenient to the Bon Air shopping center as well as the lovely, posh shopping and restaurants at nearby Marin Country Mart, Greenbrae is a super popular, hot market in Marin County and an extremely desirable place to live.   Proximity to the 101 (and Central Marin's largest road artery, Sir Francis Drake Blvd.) makes Greenbrae feel "busier" than nearby Kentfield.  However, the fabulous hiking and biking trails of nearby Eldridge Glade and Baltimore Canyon are easy to access, and the tranquil seascape a stone's throw away in the flatlands along the shore.

When in Greenbrae...

  • Commute to downtown SF by ferry.
  • Row or paddle board on the sheltered waters.
  • Marvel every morning at that Mount Tam view.
  • Enjoy international food truck heaven at Larkspur Landing.
  • Walk/bike to Woodlands Market along the canal bike path for a coffee and croissant.

Kentfield School District serves children in Kentfield and nearby Greenbrae.  There is currently one elementary (Bacich, K-4), and one middle school (Kent Middle School, 5-8). Funding and high enrollment are two hot-button issues in Kentfield-Greenbrae public schools, like many other Marin school districts, but the recent passing of a 30 million dollar bond for the District means that the District will be restructuring its campuses to deal with the issue of high enrollment with added funding.

The new construction will create three separate age divisions across two campuses (currently Bacich and Kent Middle) and will modernize the facilities at both locations, beginning with Kent Middle and scheduled to complete construction in 2019.  Bacich will become a school for K-3, thus decreasing numbers on the campus.  Kent Middle will serve two separate programs: 4-5, and 6-8.

Kentfield's tax revenue has historically qualified it for Basic Aid some years, but it currently (as of 2016) does not have Basic Aid status and must raise funds for art, music, PE and other enrichment not provided by state revenue, which is not uncommon in wealthy Marin County.  (For a more in-depth look at how California funds its school districts, check out "Survival Guide: Your California School District")  Kentfield has a strong, active fundraising structure set-up, in the form of KIK (Kentfield Invests in Kids), made easier by the fact that all funds raised by parents stay at the single school in their community.

Kent Middle is a high-performing middle school currently serving 6-8 graders in Kentfield.  The same fundraising structure applies to Kent Middle that exists at Bacich.  Planned construction (see above) will modernize the current facilities by 2019.

In high school, Kentfield students are in the Tamalpais Union High School District, and generally attend Redwood High School in Larkspur.

Private schools are a reasonably popular choice for many families in Kentfield, especially for middle and high school, although most families in Kentfield attend the public school and many families move to Kentfield for the strong academic reputation of Kentfield School District.  Families moving into the district in years to come will enjoy the benefits of the new school bond and improved facilities that address the issue of high enrollment.  Among the most well-attended privates for Kentfield residents include: St. Patrick's (Larkspur), San Domenico (San Anselmo), St. Anselm's (San Anselmo), Mark Day (San Rafael), Marin Country Day (Corte Madera), and Branson School (High school - Ross).  It's a great idea to ask one of our carefully selected Hoodvibe realtors for more detailed information on public schools, and the latest news in the district.

In Patty, we not only found an extremely capable real estate professional, but a wonderful advisor and confidant. She had a unique way of satisfying me on the business side of the experience all the while keeping my children and wife's best interests at heart.

These two phenomenal agents (since 2013 they've sold more than $135 million) are also consummate local experts who work tirelessly for their clients.  Laura and Kristin have lived in Marin County's most desirable areas for over 40 years.  Attending top local public and private schools themselves, in addition to raising children here, has informed their nuanced perspective on education options and what it's like to live in this community. Their combined background makes them a formidable pair, with Laura having worked as a top-performing Marin agent for over 20 years, and Kristin working as an executive recruiter (and managing numerous executive relocations) before joining Laura as an agent in 2002. These ladies have got your back.

"We didn't know Marin very well when we started looking for a house. Not only did Kristin and Laura help us find a wonderful home, they found us our dentist, landscaper, preschool, and the list goes on. We found that we could really trust their advice on many things, and they have both become friends to our family. We only wish we could see them as much as we did when we were house hunting. (Well-maybe not that much.) We appreciated the fact that Laura and Kristin are both Marin natives. They were appropriately candid about different towns and neighborhoods. They did a great job getting to know us so that they could find a house and a neighborhood that felt like home to us."
