Welcome to Lucas Valley
Stretched along the Lucas Valley Preserve north of downtown San Rafael is the Lucas Valley community, famously dotted with Eichler-designed homes built in the late 60s. Near enough to easy, convenient shopping at the Northgate Mall in San Rafael or Vintage Oaks in Novato, but distant enough to feel chilled-out and spacious, Lucas Valley's elementary school regularly beats all other Marin County schools in proficiency rankings and draws a steady flow of families looking for a strong community and great schools.
Stuff people do here

- Have a Mad Men themed housewarming for your super-cool, updated 60's masterpiece.
Dixie elementary is part of the Dixie School District. Test scores at Dixie regularly top the County for students achieving state proficiency. There is also a GATE program for students who qualify. Like most schools in Marin County, there is a funding gap between what the school receives from the State and the cost of a high-quality education. Read more about finding your way around a California School District here. Dixie elementary school raises needed funds for "extras" like art, PE, music, and technology mainly through the District fundraising entity, Can Do, which pools money over the three elementary schools and one middle school in the Dixie School District. Dixie also fundraises for its own school (separately from the other schools in the district) through the active Parent Club. However, this fundraising is monitored by the District to ensure that the larger fundraising efforts are directed toward Can Do. Contact Dixie School District for more details.
Miller Creek Middle School is part of the four schools in the highly regarded Dixie school district. It is supported by the Can Do fundraising entity and parent clubs, which provide enrichment in the form of art, music, PE and technology.
High schoolers in this neighborhood usually choose to attend public Terra Linda High School, although they could choose to attend San Rafael High School.
Popular private choices in the Dixie School District are Mark Day (San Rafael), St. Anselm's (San Anselmo), San Domenico (which has an efficient bus service from San Rafael to the San Anselmo campus), and Marin Academy (private high school in San Rafael) or Marin Catholic (Catholic high school, Greenbrae).
commute to golden gate: 45 minutes
